The Shulchan Aruch Initiative- or SHAI as it is fondly called- is a daily 10 minute audio program (Sunday through Wednesday) to learn practical Halacha.

♦ Each audio clip is distributed by email and Whatsapp; you can listen whenever it is convenient for you.

♦ Join us on Thursday evenings at 9pm Eastern for an interactive Zoom meeting where you can ask questions and discuss what we learned that week.

♦ Additional support is available during the week via email.

What is Shulchan Aruch?

Shulchan Aruch is the classic set of books of Halacha (Jewish law). Coauthored by Rabbi Yosef Kairo and Rabbi Moshe Isserles, this set of books is the authoritative starting point for any discussion of practical Jewish law.

The SHAI Program is currently studying Orach Chayim and will begin the laws of Pesach on November 11, 2025.

Who is the presenter of this audio series?

Rabbi Mordechai Rhine, the presenter of Take Ten for Talmud, is the teacher of this series. His ability to translate and articulate difficult concepts smoothly and clearly has enabled so many participants to find their place in Torah study.

How does subscription work?
